Elon Musk Creates New Logo Twitter to ‘X,’ Replaces Iconic Bird Logo

Elon Musk, who owns Twitter, changed the famous bird image to an “X” on Monday as part of a big rebranding plan that he announced on the social media site over the weekend.

Musk bought the platform for $44 billion at the end of last year. In a post on Sunday, he said the company would soon “say goodbye to the Twitter brand and, slowly, all the birds.” Since Monday, X.com leads to Twitter’s home page, but Twitter.com is still up and running. For many users, the app’s branding hasn’t changed yet.

Musk wants the platform to become what he has called an “everything app.” The change from Twitter to X shows how he plans to make that happen. In a post on Sunday, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino said that X will be “centred on audio, video, messaging, payments/banking.” She also said that artificial intelligence (AI) will be used to run the site.

According to court documents, the company’s change to X started in April, when Twitter Inc. became X Corp.

Musk, who is the company’s executive chairman and chief technology officer (CTO), said on Monday that tweets will now be called “x’s.” When asked what retweets would be called, he wrote that the “concept should be rethought.”

On Monday, he posted a picture of the X logo being shown in the company’s offices.

The CEO of Tesla wrote on Sunday that he likes the letter “x.” His other business ventures show that he has always liked the letter “x.” Musk’s rocket company, SpaceX, also has an X as its logo, and he just started a new artificial intelligence company called xAI with the lofty goal of “understanding the true nature of the universe.”

Musk also helped start PayPal, which used to be called X.com but changed its name in 2001. In 2017, he bought the name back from PayPal.
