The Mandalorian Season 4 Release Date, Cast and Trailer Updates

The long-awaited third season of “The Mandalorian” starts next month, but creator Jon Favreau recently told BFM TV that The Mandalorian Season 4 scripts are already written and ready to be shot. Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t said for sure that there will be a fourth season yet.

Favreau said that he wrote the scripts for Season 4 while Season 3 was still in post-production. He stressed that the scripts must be written so that the series can continue to fit into and anchor the bigger “Star Wars” universe. There are several new “Star Wars” shows coming out, including the much-anticipated “Ahsoka.”

“The Mandalorian Season 4, yeah, I’ve written that already,” Favreau said. “To tell a complete story, we have to know where we’re going. Dave Filoni and I had planned it out, and you slowly started to write each show. I was writing it while the movie was being made. Everything has to feel like it fits together and tells one story.”

Who’s the Cast of The Mandalorian?

Favreau developed and is in charge of making the Star Wars series. In Season 3, Katee Sackhoff will play Bo-Katan, Carl Weathers will play Greef Karga, Amy Sedaris will play Peli Motto, Emily Swallow will play The Armorer, Giancarlo Esposito will play Moff Gideon and more. Pedro Pascal will play the only Mandalorian gunfighter, Din Djarin. In the most recent one, Ahmed Best, Jack Black, Lizzo, and Christopher Lloyd all made turns.

“The Mandalorian is still making his way through the Star Wars world. “Din Djarin and Grogu are back together after being apart for a long time,” says the summary for The Mandalorian Season 3. “In the meantime, the New Republic is trying to get the world to forget its dark past. As he and Grogu continue their trip together, the Mandalorian will run into old friends and make new ones.

Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard all returned as directors for Season 3, along with Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), and Black Panther photographer Rachel Morrison, who were all new to Star Wars.

The Mandalorian is made by Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck, who are the show’s executive creators. Favreau will also be in charge of running the show and will be one of its directors. Seasons 1 through 3 can now be streamed on Disney+.

The Mandalorian Season 4 Potential Release Date

Even though we know The Mandalorian Season 4 is coming, we don’t know when it will start. We can only say for sure that it will be on Disney+, like the other seasons, and that it will probably have eight episodes.

After the first season came out in November 2019 and the second season came out in October 2020, we would usually say that a new season would come out later in the year. But season three didn’t start until March 2023 because of delays, and it looks like season four will also be delayed.

Since the Writers’ Guild of America is on strike right now, it looks like shooting might not start in September as planned (via Deadline). Even though the scripts are supposedly done, they can’t be changed because there isn’t a scriptwriter on set.

“I know the stories were written by Jon. I know he’s excited to keep telling stories in this world, and we’ll see when and how that happens, taking everything into account, said Rick Famuyiwa, the show’s executive producer. “It’s for sure going to happen, but I don’t know when.”

The Mandalorian Season 4 Trailer Updates

No, sorry. The Mandalorian Season 4 has been written by Favreau since May 2022, but shooting hasn’t started yet, so we don’t have anything to show you. As usual, we’ll let you know when we find out more.

The first three seasons of The Mandalorian can be watched on Disney+.

The Mandalorian Season 4 Plot

When The Mandalorian Season 4 comes out, what will it even be about? As we said, season 3 did a great job of wrapping up most of the big plots of the show. At least for now, Bo-Katan seems to have settled into his job as leader of the Mandalorians. Ahsoka, on the other hand, has to deal with the upcoming Thrawn storyline. Luke Skywalker is out there doing Jedi things, but now that Din and Grogu are master and apprentice in the Way of the Mand’alor, that’s not really their business. What’s left for our two heroes to do as they kick back and relax on Navarro?

In a scene that takes place back in the New Republic based on Adelphi, the answer to this question is given in the season 3 end. Din goes to see New Republic space cop Carson Teva to offer his skills to the new government of the galaxy as a better bounty hunter. Din won’t be a mercenary who works for whoever gets the most credit. Instead, he will work as a freelancer for Carson to kill Imperial scum wherever they hide out in the Outer Rim. It’s a way for Din to teach Grogu how to hunt bounty with a sense of right and wrong.

It’s also a way for Carson to help protect worlds and people that the New Republic is too weak (and bureaucratic) to care about. Carson says that his New Republic bosses would never let a bounty hunter do work for the government, but Din says that they can keep this between them.

Din now works for the New Republic unofficially as a wandering bounty hunter lawman for credits. This is a nod to the show’s roots in Samurai and Western movies, and it also seems to be a way to bring back the Rangers of the New Republic spinoff idea that Lucasfilm had put on hold. Din and Grogu can now be the title rangers in the upcoming the Mandalorian Season 4.

What’s Next for The Mandalorian After Season 4?

Lucasfilm has said many times that it wants to make a “Mandoverse” of shows that take place during the time of the New Republic (five years after Return of the Jedi). The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew are all meant to be parts of a whole, with one story leading into or setting up the next. We’ve already seen this with Boba Fett and Ahsoka in The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett also picks up lines from The Mandalorian.

In Ahsoka, we’ll find out what happens next in the warrior’s search for Grand Admiral Thrawn, which was set up in The Mandalorian Season 2. In other words, these shows form a mini-universe where they all talk to each other, and we now know that it’s all leading up to a big crossover event in movies.

At Star Wars Celebration 2023, Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, revealed that Dave Filoni, executive producer of The Mandalorian and showrunner for Ahsoka, will direct a movie set in the time of the New Republic. This movie will pick up on threads from all of these shows and maybe even resolve some of them. We don’t know what this movie will look like in the end or when it might come out in theatres. People say that this movie event won’t happen for a few years, and definitely not before The Mandalorian season 4.
